Description

A stunning example of one of the most attractive iterations of the classic Submariner, the early 60s gilt dial diver’s watch.

1.2 million serial dates it to 1964 in my books.

The case is astonishingly thick, crisp, with even lugs and original beveled edges. The bezel is thick with sharp teeth. The insert is quite attractive with the fat font numerals having turned to a golden hue complementing perfectly the gilt dial.

The dial is absolutely spectacular with it’s laquered gloss background in perfect conditions. The gilded font text is in pristine conditions. The luminous markers have all an attractive deep cream patina all perfectly matching and puffy. The 4 o’clock marker has some tritium loss on it’s top. The hand set appears to be a later replacement and is just one shade lighter in color than the markers.

The riveted oyster bracelet is in flawless conditions with virtually no stretch. The clasp is stamped 68.

The 1530 movement is running strong and keeping time.

This watch is like a precious gem, it is really mesmerizing!

All in all a fantastic example of the iconic 60s sub.
