Wow this watch is so attractive and so masculine the Steve McQueen moniker fits perfectly.

3 million serial dates it to 1972, in my books.

This specific timepiece is a first series Explorer II with the elusive straight seconds hand.

The case is extremely thick and sharp with even lugs and prominent beveled edges. The holes on the sides of the case are incredibly well defined. The bezel is sharp and thick with nice engraved numerals and some wear. The case back is stamped 72.

The dial is very attractive with it’s clean matte background combined with the mocha patina markers perfectly matched by the hand set in pleasing conditions.

The original 7836 folded link bracelet is in great conditions and the clasp is stamped 4/71.

The movement is clean and running with no issues.

Accompanied by it’s original Rolex inner and outer silk bufkor box.

All in all a fantastic Explorer 1655 for the avid connoisseur.
