Rolex Reference 16760 is one of those rare birds in modern Rolex history. Produced ONLY for 5 years and in limited quantity.

Coming right after the last plastic crystal GMTs (16750) ??it housed the brand new caliber 3085 and Rolex realized the movement didn’t fit in the regular GMT cases.. the legend goes that Sea Dweller cases were used for this reference and hence the nickname “FAT LADY”.

Rolex also changed the color of the inlay to a “Coke” combination of Black and Red , a fresh new look leaving the Pepsi behind. This reference comes only with the Cok inlay.

You can notice the fatness of the case right away compared to a 1675 or 16750, it is heftier – thicker and slightly wider.

This specific timepiece is in untouched, unpolished condition and is as sharp as can be. Has beautiful razor sharp lugs with modern style bevels.

The dial is stunning with it’s creamed out tritium markers and the matching handset. I love those sapphire crystal patina’d dials, they are a fusion between modern and vintage – very,very hot in my opinion and not so easy to come by.

The watch comes with it’s full set of boxes and papers: Rolex warranty punched papers,store receipt,booklet,certificate holder,inner and outer “bufkor” style box.

The case shows signs of gentle wear , hairlines and swirls but no dings or dents. The dial is perfect with matching patina throughout and no defects. The hour hand is a 1/2 shade lighter. The bracelet is tight and has no stretch. comes fully linked.

9.4 million serial dates it to 1986-87 in my books.
