Description

Not much has been said about the rare and obscure Patek Philippe production of the 1970s, a feat of space age design and modernism.

Reference 3579 is a timepiece that was produced only in stainless steel and offered in two dial colors, blue and silver. I also believe it has been a model designated mainly to the Japanese market as the few I’ve seen in the past came from Japanese estates. The tonneau shape is extremely attractive and is a precursor to all the sports steel luxury watches we came to love.

The steel case measuring a contemporary 33m x 35mm is sharp and crisp showcasing a wonderful mix of satin and mirror polished facets reminiscent of the Nautilus design. The case is in pristine conditions and retains it’s original finish, proportions and edges. The screw case back is in fantastic conditions.

The acrylic crystal has a chip at 8 and 4 positions, barely visible when on the wrist.

The silver dial is in mint conditions featuring an incredible sunburst finish that catches the light beautifully. The steel blackened hand set is in pristine conditions. The inner bezel ring acquired a wonderful warm metal patina and adds to the attractive allure of this watch.

The 23-300 Patek Philippe ultra thin manual wind caliber is winding smoothly and keeping time.

On a wonderful new old stock flat grey skin strap with ellipse shape steel buckle.

A wonderful and rare watch to enjoy everyday and keep for the next generation….
