A wonderful find this early 1960s Patek Philippe quintessential Calatrava reference 3416 in mint conditions and accompanied by it’s original Certificate of Origin moreover double signed by the famous retailer in Lugano Switzerland, Somazzi.

The warranty dates the watch to 1962.

The super sharp case measuring 33mm in diameter is in crisp conditions with wonderful facets and defined edges. Deep hallmark on the side of the case and a perfectly milled case back cover.

The neutral color dial is in pristine conditions with an attractive sunburst finish, perfectly raised hard enamel Patek signature at 12 and the Somazzi stamp at 6 o’ clock position. The hand set is in mint conditions.

The manual wind movement caliber 23-300 is winding smoothly and keeping time.

The refined woven 18k gold bracelet manufactured by Gay Freres (the best bracelet manufacturer of the era) for Patek Philippe is in mint conditions and full length. The buckle with the PP logo is very, very sexy. The clasp is stamped with the GF logo and Patek Philippe along with date of manufacture 3/61.

Accompanied by it’s original warranty, stamped by Somazzi and dated 1962. Furthermore the original Patek Philipe envelope also reveals us this watch was an engagement gift for a member of a noble family of Milano, Italy.

A very elegant watch to wear even daily. It brings to my mind leisurely days with a fine cigar in hand just enjoying the time go by. A real gem for the real connoisseur.
