Audemars Piguet Royal Oak my new love

This past week I bought and sold several Audemars Piguet Royal Oak timepieces.

They bring a demographic of client I personally feel very in tune with,25 -40 year old professionals that want something a little more refined and exclusive than a Rolex.I

The Royal Oak is a masterpiece. I love the bracelet design and the satin finish on the bezel and bracelet. Such play of light , such beauty in it’s finish. Like a sculpture.

I very much enjoyed this video from Hodinkee of a while back reviewing the Royal Oak chrono in 41mm .

Enjoy!

Patek Philippe new models from Basel 2014

It’s a very exciting time in the horology industry with the Basel fair ongoing .

All the major watch manufacturers are unveiling their new collections and I am very excited to see Patek’s new offerings.

As you might know already I am a huge lover of the Nautilus line and I’m so excited to see a brand new model in the lineup.

Showcased is the 5990-1a , a brand new Nautilus that includes a dual time feature (same as the one on the Aquanaut 5164) and a chronograph function (same as the 5980 models) . The case presents two wide rectangular pushers at 2 and 4 oclock and two pushers to set the travel time at 11 and 7  o’clock.

The dial is a graded black/grey step design with the Patek logo inside the chronograph sub dial.

At 12 o’clock is a date wheel sub dial.

Material used for now is only stainless steel. I personally think it would have been more exciting to do it in all gold and leave this model for the millionaires of the world.

I guess Patek is targeting a new type of buyer.

Retail will be close to $60000 and we will start seeing them around in the next few months.

Love it or not?

Furthermore a very surprising new offering from Patek is the reference 5960-1a.

The 5960 is a chronograph that features an annual calendar function and is the first chrono by Patek that is self winding.

All the 5960 in platinum and rose gold have been discontinued leaving us with this brand new stainless steel (??!!!) model.

Even more interesting is the bracelet, a whole new offering on the 5960 lineup.

Retail should be close to $50000.

I like it , it appears to me a very youthful and fresh watch.

Love it or not?
