The Royal Oak has been an iconic design in the minds of all watch lovers since 1972. Here we have a fantastic first series specimen checking all the boxes in terms of originality.
A series and it’s case #6xx date it to 1972.
The case is sharp, full, retaining it’s facets and sharp angles, prominent satin finish and overall pleasing conditions. The screws sit flush in the bezel further proving this watch to be untouched.
The dial is attractive maintaining it’s original anthracite color while developing a nice warm patina to it. The AP logo at 6 position and the “SWISS” signature shows us this is the original dial.
The bracelet is in sharp erect conditions, the clasp with the full “Audemars Piguet” signature belongs only on the first series specimens and is rare. The clasp is also stamped 72 and signed by Gay Freres. The AP engraving within along with the brick like end links that attach to the case also show us this is the original bracelet indeed.
The AP caliber 2121 ultra thin movement is running well with no issues.
Accompanied by extract from AP’s archives and travel box.
All in all that pure JUMBO ROYAL OAK!
