What a fantastic and charming Rolex Submariner 5513 from the mid 60s in really nice conditions.
1.1 million serial dates it to 1964, in my books.
The case is incredibly full and sharp. Thick even lugs and prominent beveled edges. Well defined holes. The shiny is from what we call “shirt polish” through years of wear. The bezel is thick with sharp edges. The insert is very attractive. The case back is stamped 5513 and 64.
The dial is exquisite with a full glossy lacquered background mirror style. There is some aging discoloration at 12 and at 6 but really not visible on the wrist. The lume plots are in top conditions with a full cream patina perfectly matched by the gilt hand set in nice conditions. The gilded Rolex text and coronet is vivid and crisp.
The rare oyster 6636 expandable riveted bracelet is in fantastic conditions and the clasp is stamped 64. Fully linked.
The movement is clean and running with no issues.
All in all a fantastic submariner, extremely honest and a joy to wear. Must have in the vintage Rolex collection.
