Here we have an extremely rare iteration of the iconic Red Submariner: the elusive tropical brown dial MK3.
2.4 million serial dates it to 1970, in my books.
The case is thick with even lugs and the original beveled edge is still visible all while the holes on the sides retained their original proportions. The bezel is thick with sharp teeth. The insert is a later replacement and is in good conditions.
The MK3 dial is extremely attractive with it’s homogenous chocolate brown color. The lume plots retained their luminous material, some aging can be seen at 6 o’clock marker. The markers are all even in their white color same as when the watch came out of the factory. The original hand set is in pristine conditions and matches the markers in color.
Please note we find chocolate brown submariners exclusively on Mk3 dials ranging in the 2.2-2.4 million serials.
The folded link 9315 Oyster bracelet is in good conditions and fully linked.
The movement is running with no issues.
A great opportunity to acquire a watch that is rare, attractive and just unique.
