A nice crispy early example of the iconic Explorer reference 1016 right here right now!
1.5 million serial dates it to 1967, in my books.
The case has nice even strong lugs and a clean smooth bezel. The case back is correctly stamped 67. The crystal has wear and most of the hairlines you see are on it. I did not buff it and left the watch as it came.
The gilded font dial is in attractive conditions. The gilt text is vivid, crisp and intact. The black laquered glossy background is in nice conditions with some expected crazing. There is some aging at 3. The 3-6-9 numerals are crisp and attractive. The lume has a nice cream color and glows correctly under UV light. The original gilt hand set is in nice conditions.
The newer jubilee is in pristine conditions with minimal stretch.
The movement is literally mint and running with no issues.
All in all that early gilt explorer you need in your life.
