There is one modern Rolex that is the most collectible and coveted and that is the GMT Master 16710 fitted with the new 3186 caliber.
This is the rarest Rolex of recent times and I will explain to you why:
Rolex have been producing the reference 16710 since the early 90s and the movement that was powering was the classic 3185 caliber we find also on the Explorer II.
Before the advent of the maxi case ceramic bezel 116710LN they made ready a new improved caliber 3186 with a parachrome blue spring that avoided the shaking and wiggle of all hands when just the hour hand was set.
I attached a video of the hand setting with no wiggle of all the hands.
Some of the absolutely last batches of 16710 GMT’s were fitted with the new caliber and are rare as a unicorn. Furthermore , the font of some dials of this reference is also different having the ” II” after “MASTER” in a stick font as opposed to roman classic font. (We also find some rectangle II but that is no assurance to have a caliber 3186 inside and so is the stick II).
It is also rare to have reference 16710 with a Rolex card as opposed to punched papers.
This timepiece is a true collector’s item and comes to me in like new conditions and complete with all it’s accessories.
Case and bracelet are uber mint and have a spectacular satin finish.
Dial is pristine and has the stick II.
Accompanied by it’s Warranty Card, booklet, instructions, hang tag and inner / outer Rolex box.
Stunning indeed and a watch that is getting more valuable by the minute.
