This is the original Patek Philippe Aquanaut that came out (although the very first series didn’t have the exhibition case back) back in 1997.
Innovative and ultra sporty , it (the Aquanaut) made room for a new breed of Patek enthusiast that are young and on the go.
This particular timepiece is rare as not many were produced and quite sought after by collectors.
36mm in diameter (excluding crown) and in stainless steel, features a date window at 3 and a self winding Patek in house movement that runs smooth as a Ferrari on a race track.
I love the waffle/tropic dial and it’s simple utilitarian look with these strong presence arabic numerals. The baton luminous hands further this “military” / radical chic look on the watch. The rubber “tropic” strap is supple, hypoallergenic and extremely durable and comes with the Patek stainless deployant clasp.
Included with the watch a nice “Hodinkee” Nick Gabarro black Cordovan strap.
Watch is in unpolished conditions. Case shows sign of wear and light dings at 9 oclock. All can be buffed off to perfection . I prefer it in it’s raw “barn find” state. Strap is worn and was cut to fit 7′ wrist. Buckle shows sign of wear. Sapphire Crystal has no defects. Watch is running well and keeping accurate time.
