I think people fell from their chair in 1996 when Patek introduced their first watch on rubber “tropic” strap. The Aquanaut is the natural progression of the iconic Nautilus, now even sportier and more military looking and without the “ears” at the sides of the case.
Reference 5066 is among the very first iteration of the Aquanaut, what a cool thing that it has a strap or bracelet option!
The case measures a classic 34mm and is in flawless conditions having just been serviced and clean at the Patek service center here in NY just now. The bezel has prominent satin finish, well defined eight facets and strong + sharp even lugs. Waterproof and exhibition case back (as to be found correctly on this reference) with the service sticker on.
The “tropic” embossed style dial is reminiscent of a grenade and carries the classic “Aquanaut” look. No defects or issues.
The runner tropic strap is brand new and the deployant clasp looks clean. The bracelet appears to be fully linked and is in beautiful conditions.
The automatic movement is running with no issues and has just been serviced by the manufacturer.
Accompanied by inner and outer original black “cube” Patek boxes, open sealed plastic and hang tag from the service .
A really collectible watch and a testament to Patek’s modern chapter of history.
