In my quest to be always ahead of the flock I’m always looking for that watch that’ll set me apart from everyone else and a timepiece that speaks to my taste and feelings. I think I’ve found the one in this truly unique white gold Patek Philippe from the early 70s featuring a contemporary size looking cushion shape case and a crazy tropical dial on integrated fine bracelet.
Reference 3586 is rare and scarce as it’s part of that not much spoken about production of the early 70s, touching indeed my soft spot.
The 18k white gold, 36mm (36.5×34.5) case feels substantial and totally modern sitting on the wearer wrist better than a Nautilus. The case is in overall unpolished sharp conditions with some expected wear. The edges are sharp and the finish is crisp. The absence of a crown on the side of the case really speaks to the perfect proportions of the ellipse shape invented by Euclid.
The dial is really incredible as it aged to a marble effect look, so even and so attractive. The white gold hand set and markers are in fine conditions.
The automatic backwind movement is running well with no issues, the crown is on the case back.
The white gold finely made mesh bracelet is in it’s full length and in fine conditions wrapping beautifully on the wearer’s wrist. The clasp is in good conditions.
A really unique timepiece for the collector who couldn’t care less what’s trending but cares about what makes his heart beat faster. Without breaking the bank!!
