This has to be among the most striking watches I’ve ever owned. It just exudes class, elegance, old world and at the same a contemporary look line no other.
A white gold ellipse is not an everyday find, furthermore a white gold ellipse with a burgundy turning to purple dial is an incredibly rare discovery. Topped off with the fact that it’s fitted for a strap (quite uncommon) and not on a bracelet making it much more attractive and wearable, it’s one of the most exciting collectible timepieces I’ve had.
The ultra thin white gold cushion shaped case measuring 36mm in diameter is incredibly sharp with the crispest hallmark I’ve seen. Minor signs of wear on the case back and bezel.
The burgundy / oxblood / purple sunburst dial is extremely attractive. It’s white gold indices perfectly contrast with the warmth of the dial and the sunburst effect is like an explosion of color every time the light hits it. Research tells us those ellipse dials are made of gold and coated with a vellum like colored material that enables it to have the sun ray effect. The dauphine hand set is in fine conditions.
On it’s original Patek Philippe 1970s alligator strap and original white gold ellipse buckle (the coolest buckle ever).
The automatic ultra thin movement is running fine and keeping time. I do not service history for it.
Accompanied by it’s Patek Philippe 70s red box (unfortunately damaged).
A uber rare and magnificent watch indeed.
