A feat of design from the brainchild of Ferdinand Butzi Porsche of Porsche Cars fame, this more than a timepiece by IWC from the early 80s! The PVD finish (among the first of it’s time) and the choice of aluminum for the case featuring a hidden compass function and moon phase display make this watch a true conversation piece and a piece of watchmaking history.
The 40mm aluminum case black PVD finished is in overall decent conditions with no dings or dents just some wear at the edges of the original PVD coating. The original crown is in mint conditions. The compass hinge opens with no issues and the compass works flawlessly. The case back has some aging.
The extremely attractive dial featuring the short IWC + Porsche Design logo is in mint conditions with uber attractive tritium custard patina matching in all lume plots and hand set. The moon phase display is mint.
The “Corfam” industrial strength plastic bracelet is in decent conditions, fully linked and with expected discoloration at the clasp. It is obviously possible to wear the watch on a strap or Nato strap, bringing the coolness level of the wearer to the max!
The automatic IWC movement is running well and keeping time.
A wonderful sports watch ultra design oriented for the connoisseurs!
