The Cartier Santos Dumont is the very first wrist watch ever made. The fabled Alberto Santos Dumont of early aviation days fame requested from Louis Cartier a timepiece to be worn on his wrist during his flights and the same design we see here was what was delivered over 100 years ago. Standing strong to this day the Santos Dumont watch is as iconic as can be.
This specific watch dates to 1985 and features an ultra thin mechanical manual wind movement.
The 18k yellow gold case is in nice conditions retaining it’s original lines, curves and proportions. The inner bezel in white gold is crisp along with it’s iconic rivets. The cabochon sapphire crown is in fine conditions. The lugs retain their intended shape and curve.
The dial is overall in pristine conditions and features the classic Cartier roman numeral layout along with the hidden signature at 7, furthermore it has the Paris and Swiss signature at 6 a rare iteration of this watch.
